Beta · Every trigger instant

Credit lookups in every Zap.

Look up a phone number the moment a lead comes in, then send their name, address and FICO® Score 4 to your CRM, spreadsheet or team chat. Thousands of apps, no code.

  • 11 instant triggers
  • 3 actions
  • 3 searches
  • No polling

Set up

Your first Zap in five minutes.

You need an API account. Sign up if you don’t have one; test mode is free.

  1. Join the beta

Open the beta invite while signed in to Zapier and accept it. Phone Number Credit Score then shows up when you add a step.

  2. Connect your account

In a Zap, pick our app and choose Sign in. On our page, choose the API account, Test or Live, a monthly spending limit for Zapier, whether someone approves each paid lookup, and how long it stays connected.

Leave Add funds off unless a Zap will top up your balance.

  3. Pick a trigger

Start from the app your leads come from, like a form or CRM. Or start from one of ours, like New Lookup or Balance Low, which fire the instant it happens.

  4. Add Look Up Phone Number

Map the phone number, pick the permissible purpose, and add a reference like the lead’s ID. Add their name or address if you have them: it finds people the number alone can’t.

  5. Use the answer

Map Full Name, Credit Score, Full Address and anything else into the next steps. Add a Filter on Found or Credit Score to route people.

Triggers

Eleven triggers. All instant.

Each one fires the moment it happens, by webhook. No polling, no waiting for the next check, on any Zapier plan.

Testing

Practice for free.

Connect in Test mode and every lookup answers with sample people, never charged. These numbers act out each outcome, so you can build the Filter and Paths steps before going live.

  • Testing a trigger in the Zap editor pulls your most recent lookups, so run one first.
  • Test and live are separate. A test connection only hears about test lookups, and a live one about live lookups.
  • Going live: reconnect in Live mode and switch the Zap to that connection.
NumberWhat happens
(614) 555-0178This one, and any number not listed below, finds a sample person.
(555) 555-0404No one found (404 no_match), even with a name. Free.
(555) 555-0405No one found by the number alone (404 no_match); send first_name and last_name too and someone is found.
(555) 555-0409The address you sent doesn’t match (404 address_mismatch). Free.
(555) 555-0422Found, but too little credit history for a score (status thin_file).
(555) 555-0423The person has frozen their credit file (status frozen). Counts as a lookup.

(555) 555-0429Too many requests (429 rate_limited).

Safety

Automation with guardrails.

You choose its access

Zapier connects with OAuth on our page, never with a key you paste. Pick test or live, its monthly spending limit, whether each paid lookup needs a person’s approval, and when it expires.

No paying twice

A retried or replayed step gets its first answer back. No match is never charged. Find or Run Lookup reuses lookups you already have.

Every call logged

Each lookup shows in your logs and My reports with Zapier’s name, its purpose and cost. You get an email when it connects, and can disconnect it any time.

A permissible purpose, every time. Each lookup states why you’re allowed to see the person’s credit under the FCRA, like their consent on your form. Don’t automate lookups on people who never asked. Compliance guide.

Zapier questions

Is every trigger really instant?

Yes. All eleven triggers use webhooks: the moment something happens on your account, we send it to Zapier. There’s no polling, so it doesn’t matter which Zapier plan you’re on or how often it checks.

What does it cost?

The same as the API, from the same prepaid balance: $7.50 for a lookup that finds someone, $2 more for tradelines, and nothing when no one is found. Searches and triggers are free. Zapier counts each step as a task on your Zapier plan.

Can a Zap pay twice for the same person?

Not by accident. A retry or replay of the same step, with the same details within 24 hours, gets the first answer back and isn’t charged again. To reuse older lookups, use Find or Run Lookup: it checks for a lookup you already have before running a new one.

Do I still need a permissible purpose?

Yes, on every lookup. Pick it in the step: the person’s consent, a credit application or a rental application. Only run a lookup for people who asked for something, like a form with a credit check checkbox, and keep a record of their permission. Never for cold lead lists. More on compliance.

Can I try it without paying?

Yes. When you connect, choose Test. Test connections answer with sample people, never charge, and the sandbox numbers below act out every outcome. Connect again in Live mode when your Zap is ready.

Who can connect it?

Anyone on an API account who’s allowed to connect apps: the owner, and team members whose role includes it. You need an active API plan. The connection can never do more than the person who made it.

How do I keep spending in check?

When you connect, set a monthly spending limit for Zapier alone, and choose whether a person approves each paid lookup. With approvals on, the step stops with an approval link; approve it, then replay the run from your Zap history. Your account’s own spending limit and alerts apply too.

What data reaches Zapier?

What you ask for. Our webhook events carry only IDs and summaries; the trigger then fetches the lookup over your own connection. Lookup results do pass through Zapier and into the apps you send them to, and Zapier keeps them in your Zap history. Treat that history like the credit data it is: limit who can see it, and only send fields you need.

How do I disconnect it?

In your account, go to API → Apps & AI and disconnect Zapier. Its access stops at once and its triggers are removed. You can also remove the connection in Zapier.

Why is it a beta?

New Zapier integrations start as invite-only. Everything works today; joining the beta adds it to your Zapier account. We’ll list it in Zapier’s app directory once it’s through Zapier’s review.

Building something we don’t cover? The same things work through the API, and webhooks can go to your own server. Or email [email protected].

Put credit lookups on autopilot.

Join the beta, connect in test mode, and build your first Zap free. $7.50 per lookup that finds someone when you go live.
