7. Cookies, analytics and advertising

We and our partners use cookies, pixels, tags, local storage, software development kits and similar technologies to operate and secure the Services (for example, keeping you signed in and protecting forms from abuse), remember your preferences, understand how the Services are used, and deliver and measure advertising, including interest-based advertising across websites, apps and devices. Our content delivery and security provider and our web font provider receive your IP address and technical information when you load our pages.

We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website. It sets cookies and receives your IP address, device and browser details, and the pages and features you use. We don’t send it the phone numbers, names or other details you enter. Learn how Google uses this information at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Your choices. The first time you visit, we ask about cookies. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics and advertising cookies stay off unless you turn them on. Elsewhere, analytics cookies are on unless you turn them off, and advertising cookies stay off unless you turn them on. You can change your choice anytime with Cookie settings, also linked at the bottom of every page. We remember your choice for 13 months.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not work without them. Our Services do not respond to “Do Not Track” browser signals. Where state law requires, we treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from your browser as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information and targeted advertising for that browser. You can also learn about opting out of interest-based advertising from participating companies at optout.aboutads.info and optout.networkadvertising.org.

9. Your state privacy rights

Depending on the state where you live, including California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Virginia, you may have some or all of the following rights, subject to exceptions:

To exercise a right, email [email protected] and tell us which right and which state you live in. We will verify your request by matching information you provide with information we hold, and may ask for more if needed. You may use an authorized agent; we may require proof of the agent’s authority and ask you to verify your identity directly. We will respond within the time the law requires. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying with the subject “Privacy appeal”; if your appeal is denied, you may contact your state attorney general. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

Some information is exempt from these laws, including consumer report information governed by the FCRA, information governed by the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, and, in some states, publicly available information. We may keep information where the law allows, for example to complete a transaction, prevent fraud, comply with legal obligations or keep a record of your request.

10. Additional notice for California residents

In the past 12 months we have collected the following categories of personal information described in the California Consumer Privacy Act: identifiers (such as name, email, phone number, IP address and account identifiers); customer records (such as address, payment information and, for Credit Products, financial information); characteristics of protected classifications (such as age); commercial information (such as purchases); internet or other electronic network activity; geolocation data (approximate, from IP address); audio or electronic information (such as support call recordings); professional information included in public records; inferences; and sensitive personal information (such as Social Security number, government ID and account log-in). We collect these from the sources in section 2, for the purposes in section 4, and disclose each category for business purposes to the recipients in section 5.

Our Services and the categories of recipients described in section 5 may involve the “sale” or “sharing” of identifiers, internet activity, commercial information and inferences to advertising, analytics, marketing and data partners. As of the effective date of this policy, we have not sold or shared personal information in the preceding 12 months. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16. We use sensitive personal information only for purposes permitted by the CCPA regulations, such as providing the Services, verifying identity, security and fraud prevention, and legal compliance, so the right to limit does not apply. California residents may also request information about disclosures to third parties for their direct marketing purposes under California Civil Code § 1798.83.

11. Retention

We keep personal information for as long as needed for the purposes in this policy, including to provide the Services, keep records of searches, certifications and permissible purposes (generally at least five years), meet legal, tax, accounting and supplier requirements, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and enforce our agreements. Waitlist information is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, or until we no longer need it. When we no longer need information, we delete, de-identify or aggregate it.

12. Security

We use administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, encryption of sensitive credentials at rest, access controls and monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee security. If we learn of a security breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.

13. Children

The Services are intended only for adults 18 and older and are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the Services. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

14. United States only

The Services are intended only for people in the United States, and information is processed and stored in the United States. If you access the Services from elsewhere, you do so on your own initiative.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. We will post the updated policy here with a new “Last updated” date and, for material changes, may also notify you by email or through the Services. Your continued use of the Services after the update means you acknowledge the updated policy.
