A phone calculator resting on printed financial charts

The basics

What do I get?

Enter a phone number and you get back the name of the person it belongs to, their current address, and their FICO® Score 4 from TransUnion, plus a snapshot of their credit profile: debt, credit card usage, on-time payments and more.

You also get the phone details: whether it’s a mobile, landline or VoIP number, the carrier, the caller ID name, and a fraud score from 0 to 100 (higher means riskier).

What do I need to provide?

Just the phone number. No name, address, date of birth or Social Security number.

Is it a real credit score?

Yes. It’s FICO® Score 4, calculated by FICO from the person’s TransUnion credit file. It’s the TransUnion score mortgage lenders use, not an estimate.

Why is it different from my credit app?

Most free apps, including Credit Karma, show a VantageScore® 3.0. It’s a different model, so the numbers usually don’t match. See the comparison.

Can I see every account they have?

Yes, with the account history add-on: every account, lender, balance and month-by-month payment record.

Soft pulls and privacy

Will they know I looked them up?

No. Every lookup is a soft pull, so they aren’t notified and their score isn’t affected.

Does it hurt their credit score?

No. Soft pulls never affect a credit score.

What happens to the data?

It’s encrypted, never sold and never used for marketing. See our Privacy Policy.

The rules

Can I look up anyone?

You can look up anyone you have a legitimate reason to check, what the law calls a “permissible purpose.” The most common one is simply the person’s OK. Others include someone applying to rent from you, borrow from you or do business with you.

Can I use it for hiring?

No, employment screening isn’t supported.

Can I look myself up?

Of course. Checking yourself is always fine.

Where are the full rules?

On our Compliance page.

Results

How fast is it?

Usually a few seconds.

What if nothing comes back?

We’ll tell you why: the number didn’t match a credit file, their file is frozen, or their history is too new to score. If the number didn’t match, it doesn’t use a report: the report stays in your account, and you can search again with their name, plus their address or date of birth if you know them.

Something looks wrong. What now?

Results show what TransUnion has on file. The person can dispute errors with TransUnion for free.

Pricing

How much does it cost?

As low as $9.99 per lookup.
